Congratulations to Ting-Uei Lee for completing his PhD thesis defence

From:                                                  Date: 2019-12-05

Congratulations to Ting-Uei Lee for completing his thesis defence in Tianjin University.
Ting-Uei Lee was a joint PhD student from the University of Queensland and Tianjin University. He has been engaged in the study of the design and utilisation of elastically-bent curved-crease origami in the Folded Structures Lab in the University of Queensland since March 2016. And he entered the Motion Structure Lab in Tianjin University in September 2017. By using a curvature representing surface elastic bending behaviours, he presented a new analytical description of manufactured curved-crease origami surface. He proposed the first characterisation of elastic strain energy and folding motion in curved crease compliant mechanisms as well as a novel elastic buckling shape control method for thin-walled cylinder. His work has made a contribution to the research field of origami engineering, and it offers a strong research platform for curved-crease origami ranging from the fundamental geometrical relations to potential engineering applications. Now he is a postdoc research fellow in the University of Queensland. More information about his work can be found on his website (VPN is required in China): https://www.jefflee-digital.com
