Congratulations to Weilin Lv for Passing the Doctoral Dissertation Defence

From:                                                  Date: 2021-03-20

Many congratulations to Weilin Lv for completing his PhD study in Tianjin University and passing the doctoral dissertation defense on Mar. 9, 2021.

Weilin Lv has been engaged in the study on rigid origami and deployable structures in Motion Structure Laboratory since September 2014. He presented helical structures of spherical 4R linkages, which can switch chirality through a mechanism bifurcation, and hierarchical helical structures with a chirality transfer from the construction elements to the morphological level. By replacing the unit facets of the planar eggbox pattern with volumetric tetrahedrons, he presented a morphing surface that can transform from a parabolic cylinder to a paraboloid. He proposed an extended family of rigid origami tubes and a method of constructing thick-panel origami tubes. With these achievements, he has published five journal papers (two as the first student author, and one as the co-first author) and one conference paper.
