Zijia Li from Chinese Academy of Sciences Visited MSL

From:                                                  Date: 2021-04-07

On April 6, 2021, at the invitation of Prof. Yan Chen, Zijia Li from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited MSL.
In this academic exchange event, Mr. Li gave an interesting academic presentation - "Rational 6R Linkages" to all teachers and students in the lab. In the report, Mr. Li brought us some problems in the research of 6R linkages and two methods to solve them: Bond Theory and Motion Polynomials. Using Bond Theory, the existing 6R linkages can be transformed  into Bond diagrams, and new linkages can be also designe through Bond diagrams. The Motion Polynomials provide a new way to study the parameters of linkages. During this period, the interference free full circle rotation six bar mechanism shown by Mr. Li aroused everyone's interest. In the communication link, Mr. Li had a series of discussions with you on the design of the six bar mechanism.
During the session, Mr. Li showed a kind of interference free 6R linkages with whole period rotation, which aroused strong interest of several students and faculty members in the audience. In the exchange session, Mr. Li held a series of discussions with the audience on the design of 6R linkages.

Dr. Zijia Li graduated from the symbolic computing major of Linz University, Austria. He is an associate researcher of  Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a senior researcher of the Institute of robotics, JOANNEUM research, and a postdoctoral fellow of the Institute of discrete mathematics and geometry, Vienna University of technology, Austria, and the Institute of symbolic computing, Linz University, Austria. He is mainly devoted to the use of algebraic geometry tools to explain the mechanism of the movable mechanism and applied to the design and development of new mechanisms.

Conducting international cutting-edge research and meeting major national needs are always the diversified development directions of the Laboratory of Movable Structures, and we also welcome interested students to actively participate in such academic activities and contact to apply for master and doctoral degrees, regardless of majors.
