Many congratulations to Yuanqing Gu for passing the doctoral dissertation defence in Tianjin University. Under the guidance of Professor Yan Chen from Tianjin University and Associate Professor Guowu Wei from Salford University in the UK, Gu Yuanqing successfully completed his doctoral studies in three and a half years, and his thesis was awarded the "3A" thesis on the Ministry of Education platform. After graduation, he continued to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the Motion Structure Laboratory.

       Yuanqing Gu has been studied on the about mechanism and deployable in Motion Structure Laboratory since September 2017. He establishes an approach for the design of novel deployable polyhedral mechanisms based on spatial symmetries and proposes the overconstraint reduction strategy based on the Hamiltonian path. He also conducting interdisciplinary research and proposed design examples of mechanism metamaterials such as reconfigurable radiation arrays and high-performance thermal managers. With the effectively theoretical achievements, he has published eight journal papers (another two are under progressing), three conference papers, four patents and several awards, such as national scholarship for doctoral students. The three results of the doctoral thesis reviewed by the Ministry of Education are all excellent, meeting the requirements for early graduation of a doctoral degree from Tianjin University.
