The 9th Soft Robot Conference was held at Tsinghua University in Beijing from November 15th to 17th, 2024. It gathered over 500 scholars from more than 170 research institutions worldwide, and is considered one of the most important events in the field of robotics. The poster presented by M.E. student Xu Chuhan from MSL, titled “An Ultra-Fast Rolling Double-Helical Robot Driven by Constant Humidity” won the " Second Award of Best Poster" and the "Green Innovation Award" in the poster competition. This work introduced a soft robot fabricated by AG film, a humidity-responsive and biodegradable material. Due to the alternating response of the two rotationally symmetric helices and the moment generated by the offset of the barycenter, the robot could rapidly roll in a constant humidity environment. In optimal conditions, the robot, with a weight of 29.8 mg, achieved a maximum rolling speed of 5.8 BL/s and could transport a payload of 100% self weight. Additionally, we demonstrated its function for detecting acid environment detection as well.
