Tencent Penguin Science Communication Video Contest: Origami Research Accidentally Solves an Aerospace Problem?!

From: Tencent                                                  Date: 2025-09-12

The “Penguin Science Communication” video contest was launched by Tencent SSV (Sustainable Social Value Organization), Tencent News, and China Science Communication. In this contest, Motion Structure Laboratory has provided two topics surrounding origami engineering. Now, the second entry has also been posted!

From the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum comes “Origami Research Accidentally Solves an Aerospace Problem?!” The video spotlights origami metamaterials for zero-thermal-expansion satellite structures and walks viewers through the lab’s recent Advanced Materials paper, detailing the structural design, smart-material integration, zero-CTE synthesis, and future applications—all in one package.

Go watch, like, and share the love; let’s make hard-core science go viral!
