MSL Student Wins the 3rd Space Universities CubeSat Challenge China Region First Prize
From: Date: 2025-12-12 On November 20th, the China region finals of the 3rd Space Universities CubeSat, co-hosted by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the International Astronautical Federation, concluded in Wenchang, Hainan. Among the entries, the first prize work "Orbital Rescue" was led by the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Tianjin University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Shanghai Tech University. Wenli Liu, an undergraduate student from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Tianjin University, was one of the team members, and Tianshu Wang, an assistant researcher at the Motion Structure Laboratory of Tianjin University, served as one of the team's instructors. The competition entries included an innovative deployable satellite docking interface. Based on the Sarrus mechanism, this interface introduced an antagonistic shape memory alloy torsion spring drive mechanism and component coupling design, achieving a series of functions such as efficient deployment, precise docking, secure locking, and reliable separation. The docking interface can reliably complete capture under displacement and angular deviation, and it also features isomorphism and tolerance for single-side failure. The outstanding achievements in this competition reflect the solid engineering and innovation capabilities of the team members. Here, we extend our warmest congratulations to all the team members! |
