The Students International Olympiad on Mechanisms and Machine Science (SIOMMS), initiated and organized by the International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM), is a highly influential competition in the field of mechanism and machine science for university students. The Olympiad aims to inspire global university students’ interest in the study of mechanisms and machines, strengthen their foundational knowledge in mechanical principles and engineering application skills, and provide a platform for international academic exchange among young scholars in the field. The 7th edition of the competition was successfully held from April 15 to 18, 2026, at Shandong University (Weihai), attracting 14 teams from 14 universities across China, Russia, Spain, and Romania.

        Under the guidance of Professor Zhe Wang and Associate Research Fellow Xiao Zhang, a team of undergraduates from the Class of 2023 at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Guangyang Yin, Hangshuo Liu, and Qianqian Fan, represented Tianjin University demonstrated excellence at the competition. Thanks to their strong foundation in mechanical principles, the team ultimately won First Prize in the team competition. The students also excelled individually, Guangyang Yin received both a special commendation and the third prize, while Hangshuo Liu was honored the first prize.
