Mechanical properties of sandwich folded core
The sandwich foldcore core is characterized by light weight and high strength. It is mainly used in the aerospace field. The foldcore, which can be processed from a complete piece of metal, is designed by the origami principle. It markedly reduces the processing cost. Furthermore, the origami crease can guide the facet transformation of foldcore to achieve the perfect facet buckling failure mode under compressive, shear and bending loads. It will increase the energy absorption of the sandwich by this buckling mode.
